Dear Sarasvati

BY Chinaya Brown

As time slips by, you occupy my thoughts less.

Yet you still appear in my dreams.

You visited me last night, and that’s why this letter is written.

I still hear your voice in passing,

Your smile in every stranger,

And the smell of you on my clothing.

You still linger around me

And it makes me yearn for your presence.

It’s strange you appear in my dreams

Because the universe protects me from you.

Still you draw near as I fall asleep

Because it’s the only time you can roam freely around me.

Spring is almost here.

My nights will become longer as my days do.

As long as you linger quietly in my dreams

For the season being

Kiss me with each passing moment

And tell me we won’t be enemies in the next life.
